Pruning and Trimming Techniques
Crown Thinning – Lightly prune the interior limbs of the tree canopy. This technique not only helps your lawn it can prevent storm damage.
Crown Cleaning – Remove deadwood, diseased and dying branches. Limbs that are rubbing or crossing are also removed.
Crown Raising – Removal of the lower limbs of a tree canopy.
Crown Reduction – Lightly thinning of the tree’s canopy. Reduction will reduce the height and canopy but will not alter the branch integrity. This will also reduce storm damage and help to keep the taller trees from uprooting or falling during a storm
Clearance Pruning – the removal of limbs away from a structure. Done to clear limbs away from structures.
It is very important to prune and trim your trees each year. It makes a substantial difference on how your trees will sustain their integrity during the tropical storms and hurricanes we experience on the Northeast coast of Florida.
